We’ve all been there. You just started out on this new life plan. A new morning routine. A brand new workout plan. A new business idea. At first, other people are giving you high 5s, cheering you on, even giving you sort of good (and sometimes unwanted and negative) advice. However, when the fanfare is over when the hype of it all dies down and it’s only you there, what do you do then?

Who’s going to give you that support? Who’s going to keep you hyped about this new decision that you’ve made? When it all comes down to it, no one. There isn’t going to be anyone else to keep pushing you but you. So, what are you going to do? Well, since I’ve been there way too many times to even count, I have three tips that can help keep the fire going, during these times. The first one might be a bit obvious or you might have heard it before, but it doesn’t diminish the fact that it works. In fact, all of these work as a little self-motivation

  1. Remember why you started. Like I said, not groundbreaking. However, remembering why you got started can keep your mind on the big picture. Keeping your mind on the big picture keeps you focused on your end goal. Keeping your mind focused on the end goal can give you the motivation to pick yourself up and get moving. A good thing to do is find a way to keep your goals physically in front of you. You can put together a vision board and put your top goals on it. You can take a picture or get a picture that represents your goal and keep it in your pocket. I have a small “I declare”  list that I keep in my wallet. I pull it out from time to time to stay focused when I get sidetracked.
  2. FIll your head up. This is another one that, seems like, should be a no-brainer. When you feed your brain with positive things, things that motivate you, it makes getting into a better frame of mind a little easier. Watching videos on youtube is another great place to draw some positive motivating energy. Another method you can use is listening to podcasts or audiobooks. I use Castbox.fm to listen to podcasts and Audible for listening to audiobooks. Grabbing a bound book is a great way to escape for a few minutes even hours if you have the time.
  3. Talk to YOU! Yep. Talk to yourself. Self-talk is a good thing, as long as you’re saying good things! I’m a sports fan, more specifically, basketball. A lot of times I have to coach myself into moving. I have to motivate myself for even certain little things like calling a prospect back or answering a phone call. (which sometimes results in having to coach myself to calling someone back, because I took too long to answer the phone.) Loving things, affirmations, self-coaching, whatever it is, when you don’t have anyone around to tell you how awesome you are, how strong you are, how you know you got this, your fall back person is going to have to be you.

Well, that’s a short list that I thought might help someone out there. I have to do these things also. Sometimes multiple times a day! Yeah, my wife is my biggest fan and she definitely gives me a kick in the pants when I need it, and kisses my forehead for a job well done. But she’s not around 24/7. She has her own awesome to tend to.

If I can do it, I know you can. I know that’s a little cliche, but it’s extremely true. If you would like a little kick in the pants during the week, feel free to join the BHY mailing list. We talk all things health, positivity for your insides, your outsides and your mentals! We here for you. We’re in this thing together!

It looks like the Work From Home (WFH) culture isn’t going anywhere! Well, kind of. Let’s say there’s a relatively high chance it will be around for a while, at the very least. While there’s a chance that many companies will go back into the office full-time, quite a few continue to give their employees the option to work from home entirely or have a hybrid schedule.
